There was an earlier thread on this subject.

I think this would activate TNT Basic. People would try to make something of better quality.

My ideas:
At the end of every month the contest ends with 1st, 2nd, and 3rd winners.
Each month has one of these themes:
•Platform/adventure game
•Puzzle/maze game
•Screensaver/non controled
•Other apps/games
•Examples for beginners (commented source)

What do you think of it?

That sound like it could be a lot of fun, and like you said it will hopefully encourage more people to create TNT basic games,

I'm still here too

I found TNT a great tool to re-learn Basic I was able to whip together something quite quickly. There is a .zip file of the App at

www.swagstuff.com/downloads/spaceCreeps.zip

if anyone is interested - nothing finished - just playing around.

cheers

Sounds like fun

I'd be interested in this. I would say we don't limit the entries though. I think any kind of game would be fair to enter every month. Sometimes, though it may take longer than a month to create, and the games might not be as good as they could be. Maybe once every other month?

And maybe instead of categories for the entries, we have cetegories for the winner? Like most unique, most addictive, best overall, etc.

Other ideas?

Actually, every other, other month would be good (possibly one in January, April, August, and December?). That way there would be more entries to choose from.
If you're working on a larger scale project and you miss the deadline, just keep making it better until the next deadline, you don't have to submit one every time.

Categories? I think you're right. I just wanted that to make people make a variety of games.

who's in?

So, who do we have willing to be involved? From what I can tell, there are 3 of us. Do we have a list anywhere of those who have downloaded TNT, or who use it? Maybe a message sent to all those who registered on these forums? We definitely need a larger group than 3. Of course, I post all of the games that I create on my personal website, and will continue to do so, but I think it would be fun to see what people like, etc.

Hello, I haven't been on these boards for a while, but I just read through this thread and I think it would be a great idea. I'd definitely try to submit something. In fact, I'm working on something pretty big right now. I hope this idea didn't die out already from a lack of participents.

Even without contest, i think it would be nice to share projects among the community

Yeah, it would, but the idea was to attract new users, right? Maybe if there aren't enough applicants to hold a contest, there could just be awards (well, by awards, it could just be some text to say "it's an award winner")given out to outstanding programs, then they could be used to really showcase TNT's capabilities.

Sourceforge Count

Consider this: I account for 3 of those sourceforge D/L's. I certainly not the only one who had to D/L (for various reasons) more than once.

Maybe we could do something similar to the "Blitzmax Showcase" in the community forums on the Blitzmax website. People could post screenshots, ideas, get feed back, etc......

It would also give everyone an idea of who is actively using TNT.

my two bits....

At least you have me.

Huh, what is the Screensaver category for ? Can you make TNTbasic save pictures ? I can only make text files... there must be a tip...
