"LÖVE is an unquestionably awesome 2D game engine, which allows rapid game development and prototyping in Lua."

Lua is pretty easy to learn, and should definitely be easy to learn if you know BASIC already; they look pretty similar. You can also do much more with Lua than BASIC too.

It just got ported to mac, so I am letting you all know. ;) You have to download from the front page though; link at downloads isn't set up yet.

Looked very promising, but not complete, the documentation did not mention how variables are stored, declared, or assigned....

I'll keep my eye on this in comparison with TNT2.

Harbinger: It uses lua, the documentation for lua is at http://www.lua.org/manual/5.1/

Declare variables by saying "local x" for local variables. Global variables don't need to be declared.

Assign variables by just going like "x=5".

swagIT: I only compiled it for mac. thanks :)

Okay I've written a gui library for it.
download library:
http://love2d.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=5&;t=525&start=50#p6672

download love.app (needed to run the library.) need Tiger though
http://downloads.sourceforge.net/love/love-0.5-0-macosx.dmg

just double click the LoveUI(alpha).love file once you've got love.app on your computer. :)

Im also on #loveclub on irc.freenode.net if you happen to use IRC...
